Seminar 15
* Load is given in academic hour (1 academic hour = 45 minutes)
Description:
Students will become familiar with the characteristics of parametric and
nonparametric statistics and appropriate statistical tests. Students will be
instructed about the importance of the understanding of models and decision tree
in choice of statistical tests. Students will be able to interpret the results and apply
the parametric and non-parametric procedures. Students will become familiar
with the limitation in decision making using the statistical tests and limitations in
interpretation of p value.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Understand the distribution of observed and theoretical frequencies and develop the model (hypothesis test, independent and dependent samples) for analysis and use of chi squared test.
  2. Understand and calculate effect size, sample size and statistical power
  3. Interpret calculated chi squared values and corresponding p values and to understand possible use of alternative chi squared values (exact test)
  4. Correctly choose and perform the steps in calculation and analysis of nonparametric tests for independent samples (Wilcoxon test, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test)
  5. Correctly choose and perform the steps in calculation and analysis of nonparametric tests for independent tests (sign test, Friedman test)
  6. . Understand the concept of correlation and limitations of use and interpretation of linear coefficient (Pearson) and other coefficients (Spearman, Kendall Tau)
  7. Create a scatter plot and analyze the different forms of regression cloud, direction, and regression line equation
  8. Understand the models and limitations of analysis of variance and to interpret F value
  9. Analyze and understand ANOVA models for independent, repeated, and factorial models and corresponding post hoc tests
  10. Analyze and explain the results of regression analysis
