This course will:
-familiarize students with Croatian cultural history from the arrival in the Balkans in the seventh century to the present days and advance their knowledge about Croatia, Croatian culture, civilization, history and literature
-familiarize students with the major works of literature, music and art from the different historical periods
- enable better understanding of intercultural processes and position of Croatian culture in a broader European and global context
- enable better understanding of special connections between specific historical and social circumstances and the development of literature and art within them
- enable students to apply knowledge of Croatian literature, culture and heritage in a wider European and world cultural context
- provide solid base and equip students for further study of more complex issues in a study of national and comparative literature, as well as in interdisciplinary cultural studies of Croatian heritage, modern culture, tradition and popular culture

Grading and evaluating:
Success will be evaluated on the basis of active participation in teaching, success in fulfilling various tasks, the quality of seminar work, and the results of the final written and oral exam, and the final grade is formed as follows:
1. The written exam makes up 40 percent of the final or total grade
2. prepared and presented seminar paper is 30 percent of the final grade
3rd oral exam 20 percent
4. success in solving various tasks and active and constructive participation in the teaching process is 10 percent of the total grade
