Description:
LECTURES:
The first part of the course is an introduction to theoretical assumptions of argumentation within the philosophy of language. Exposure of the basis of speech act theory and illocutionary logic. (Searle and Vanderveken).
The second part is research of various theories of argumentation, with an emphasis on Pragmadialectics by van Eemeren and Grootendorst.
The third part examines communicative rationality in a social context starting from Habermas' theory of communicative action.
SEMINAR:
Seminar classes are in accordance with the lectures, introducing examples of the application of the theory of argumentation in social communication, with a special emphasis on its application within education.
Learning outcomes:
  1. Ability to determine normative status of speech acts in cooperative communication.
  2. Ability to determine the normative status of speech acts in argumentative discourse,

    Recognition of values of fostering critical and communicative rationality in humanistic education.
  4. The ability for logical analysis of argumentative discourse.
