General information about the program
The idea of initiating the Department of History in Split studies has been present since the implementation of studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. The humanities represent a foundation for many university studies and competent experts in the field of History are needed in various branches of economics, media, education and other areas of the modern society.
The programme is structured to gradually and systematically introduce the students to the fundamental principles of the discipline, to make them familiar with the historical development of one of the discipline, and to improve their critical analytical abilities and insights into the main historical issues by studying relevant historical sources or participating in scientific disputes.
The current need for interdisciplinary studies and for team work in the solution of social and environmental problems has led to the introduction of this study program. The study of history has been conceived as a constitutive element in the development of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split, and at the same time, due to its critical approach to recent research insights it has been envisaged as complementary methodological-scientific support in interdisciplinary research.
