Description:
|
The course enables students to acquire the knowledge and understanding of the basics of the articulation phonetics as well as the ability to apply the stated knowledge to solving phonological problems. The students will be trained in using phonetic symbols for presenting texts in English. Within the framework of this course, students will also develop understanding of the basic rules and procedures in phonology and will acquire the knowledge related to using the rules and procedures in the analysis of linguistic data.

Learning outcomes:

- differ and describe phonetic and phonological units of the English language
- transcribe al the sounds of the standard speech variant of the British English (RP)
- apply the rules and procedures in the language data analysis
- use the basic articulative phonetics in solving phonological problems
- teach English pronunciation at an early school age
