The aim of the course is to gain insight into the literature of the second half of the 20th century, as well as contemporary German literature, in the socio-historical context. Using the knowledge gained in the previous literary courses, students will study and critically judge the most important literary phenomena, authors and works of that period.

1. - to distinguish the specificities of the literary periods in the second half of the 20th century
2. - explain various historical, cultural, political and social influences on the development of German literature in the second half of the 20th century/the beginning of the 21th century
3. - analyze and interpret selected literary works in the given context
4. - discuss the most important features and authors of German literature in the second half of the 20th century
5. - to translate and interpret the literary phenomena of that period in the European cultural and socio-political context
6. - prepare a seminar paper on the topic of 20th century German literature
