Description:
Main course objective is to acquaint the students with the genesis, spatial situation and social structure of Medieval urban communities on the eastern Adriatic.
Learning outcomes:
  1. To describe the urban development of communal centres and the expansion of their district.
  2. To interpret the development of social structures of communal cities in Dalmatia, the organization of urban life and the legislature and administrative affairs of autonomous cities.
  3. To describe the relationship of urban and rural societies and to contextualize the communal cities in terms of their relation towards the neighboring centres of political power.
  4. To critically interpret the text and by way of preparing a seminar paper, to view the respective problem from different aspects.
  5. To apply the methods of critical reflection and by way of discussion with other students to learn to argumentatively expound their viewpoints.
