Description:
- Learning about ethnographic research
- Differencing between quantitative and qualitative research approach.
- Developing competence for ethnographic research conduction.
- Recognizing social phenomena adequate for ethnographic research approach.
- Developing competences for fieldwork.
- Developing competences for writing fieldwork notes.
- Understanding key social problems that can be ethnographically described.
- Learning about possibilities of ethnographic concept usage in sociological projects, its advantages and disadvantages.
1. Introductory lesson (2 lessons).
Introduction to seminar essay literature and seminar essay assignments.
2. Philosophical, intellectual and sociological foundations of qualitative and ethnographic research, part 1 (2 lessons).
3. Philosophical, intellectual and sociological foundations of qualitative and ethnographic research, part 2 (2 lessons).
4. Historical foundations of ethnographic approach (2 lessons).
5. Traditional and contemporary research strategies (2 lessons).
6. Selecting topics and ethnographic environment; distinctive ethnographic sampling (2 lessons)
7. Access to the ethnographic field; relations inside the research field (2 lessons).
8. Methodological special features of contemporary ethnographic research; key ethnographic concepts (2 lessons)
