Description:
The aim of the course is to gain insight into German literature of the 19th century in the European socio-historical context. Using the knowledge gained in previous literary courses, students will study and critically judge the most important literary phenomena as well as the authors and literary works of that period.
Learning outcomes:
  1. -to distinguish the specificities of the 19th-century literary periods
  2. -explain various historical, cultural, political and social influences on the development of German literature in the 19th century
  3. - analyze and interpret selected 19th century literary works in the given context
  4. -discuss the most important features and authors of the 19th century German literature
  5. -to translate and interpret the literary phenomena of that period in the European cultural and socio-political context
  6. -prepare a seminar paper on the topic of 19th century German literature
