Description:

The goal of this course is to familiarize students with main principles of learning, with an emphasis of early learning.
COURSE CONTENT:
Introduction to Educational psychology.
Implications of Developmental psychology findings for contemporary theories of learning.
Behaviorism: Classical conditioning. Operational conditioning.
Social learning theory. The importance of socialization for learning.
Cognitivist approaches to learning and memory.
Constructivism. Self-regulated learning.
The importance of motivation for learning.
Individual differences: Abilities.
Individual differences: Personality and learning styles.
Gifted children.
Children with special needs.
Planning and choosing teaching methods.
Acquiring basic literacy skills.
Acquiring basic mathematical skills.
Evaluating the quality of own work in teaching children.
